Thank you to all of the participants in the American Red Cross blood drive today, Wednesday, February 1. There were a total of 34 successful donations, equaling 11 lives saved! All of the donors were able to “sit back and enjoy the show” as a movie played while they donated. Three lucky donors each won a $10 gift card to Gallery Restaurant!:

SPX Headquarters Building Topping Out Event

On Tuesday, January 31, Balfour Beatty Construction hosted a topping out ceremony to commemorate the completion of the steel framework for SPX’s new headquarters building, a 9-story, 241,000 square foot office building and 4-story parking garage in Ballantyne Corporate Park.
The Class A building is being built to LEED® for New Construction Silver specifications. Local firm, LS3P, is the architect partner on this project.
Speakers included Smoky Bissell, Chairman of Bissell; Chris Kearney, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of SPX; and Bob Dooley, Sr. Vice President, Balfour Beatty Construction.

The play has been called, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Yankee Style” by the Wall Street Journal and “Truly sweet and charming” by The Boston Globe.
Almost, Maine is a romantic comedy about finding, losing and rekindling love on a cold Friday night in a fictional northern Maine town. Eight vignettes present the stories of the residents of Almost, Maine as they fall in and out of love often in hilarious ways.
Directed by Chip Caldwell, this is the first production of Ballantyne Community Theatre.

The Golf Club at Ballantyne Hosts the Ballantyne Junior Open

One hundred twenty young golfers will tee it up at the Ballantyne Junior Open being hosted again this year by The Golf Club at Ballantyne on February 11-12, 2012. The Ballantyne Junior Open is a 36-hole stroke golf tournament directed by Marc Lapointe, Senior Instructor at Dana Rader Golf School.
Junior Golfers are flighted into four groups based on age and gender with boys age 13-14, boys age 15-18, girls age 13-14, and girls age 15-18 years old. Play will begin with a shotgun start at 10:00am on Saturday, February 11 and conclude with a final round on Sunday, February 12.
The general public is welcome to observe. Admission is free.
