2010 Color the Park Challenge Results – It’s a Win-Win!
AXA Equitable has been a long time supporter of Classroom Central and especially for its annual School Tools collection. With an impressive collection of 7,046 packs of markers last year, AXA Equitable challenged Ballantyne Corporate Park this year to match its total from last year. Since Classroom Central runs out of markers each year at its free store for teachers, this was the perfect challenge to jump start its drive. The challenge to collect 7,046 packs of colored markers kicked off on August 4, and the Ballantyne community was excited!
Almost 20 Team Captains from area businesses rallied their offices to bring in the markers and/or financial contributions ($1 = pack of markers). State Farm, Firebirds, Principal Financial, SJA Agency, Newport Group, Ameriprise Financial, Bissell Companies, Time Warner Cable Business Class, Ballantyne Business Center, SPX, Your Office USA, Lending Tree, UBS, Remi Group, Liberty Mutual and CA were just some of the many companies that participated in Ballantyne Corporate Park’s Color the Park School Tools Drive benefitting Classroom Central. Lance has extended its collection to August 20 and even has its manufacturing facility on South Boulevard collecting items!
The final collection day for Ballantyne Corporate Park was on Thursday, August 12. Ballantyne Corporate Park’s collection for Classroom Central quadrupled from last year with a total of 7,703 school supplies, including 5,635 packs of colored markers. While Ballantyne Corporate Park did not technically meet the marker challenge, participating tenants did collect more markers than AXA Equitable this year. AXA Equitable collected 5,502 packs of markers and 825 additional school supplies. The grand total for Color the Park challenge amounted to 11,137 packs of markers and 14,030 total items!
Thank you to everyone within Ballantyne Corporate Park for making such a huge impact in the community just in time for back to school!

Debbie,
Just wanted to let you know that on Saturday I was at the Wal-Mart on South Tryon and at the door 2 ladies from Classroom Central was there collecting supplies. So I said, that I had participated and that our office complex had collected over 16,000 and she finished my sentence from “Ballantyne Corporate Park” and started to jump up and down. …I felt proud to be part of a group of people that care for others in need.
Thanks for getting us involved.
